 What
is heelwork to music?
Heelwork to music or HTM for short is the newest canine
competitive activity.
Heelwork to music can be separated into Heelwork to
music and freestyle. HTM is similar to obedience
heelwork except there is more flexibility for the dog,
you can incorporate movement backwards and sideways,
spins, leg weaving and the handler doesnt need
to be in the heelwork position all of the time.
For freestyle the heelwork is kept to a minimum to join
tasks together and almost anything goes! Props
and costumes can enhance the routine.
Almost any breed can enjoy HTM, there are a large number
of moves but you do not have to teach all of them to
your dog, you can choose moves that your dog naturally
finds easy or enjoys doing like jump or beg and can
leave out tasks that your dog doesnt enjoy.
