Senior Trainer / Examiner

Hi, I am the owner of Little Orchard. It is my passion to see the dogs I have helped to train succeed, whether it be in competitions, or just by seeing them develop and grow into well adjusted and happy members of the family.

I find it incredibly rewarding to help the dogs work together with their owners to develop great partnerships and to have lots of fun. I have been lucky enough to have had amazing relationships with my dogs over the years which I have achieved through understanding their behaviour and by becoming friends with a strong bond. I work together with my dogs who help meet and greet the other dogs that train with us. I also really enjoy teaching our dog trainers and holding monthly meetings and seminars on different subjects and I find advising and supporting them in their chosen roles really rewarding.

I am a Registered Veterinary Nurse with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons and I qualified in 2000. Being a member of the British Veterinary Nursing Association has allowed me to learn a great deal from nursing dogs in practice for over 20 years.

I have been training and studying dogs since 1998 and gained membership of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (membership 00735). This means that I have undergone a training assessment and have agreed to abide by the associations kind and positive training methods. In June 2009 I achieved Full Membership of the B.I.P.D.T and I am now a Pet Health Councillor. I completed CAP Levels 1 and 2 (certificates in clicker training) at Distinction Level and have also completed assessor and coaching units to give me extra group instructing skills.

I am a Kennel Club Accredited Instructor (KCAI) in Companion Dog Training and the Good Citizen Dog Scheme. I'm also a KC Rally Judges Trainer.

I am qualified as a Kennel Club examiner for the Good Citizens’ Award and have completed a modular course for Agility Instructing. I have completed courses on animal massage and rehabilitation and I have passed my Grooming Qualification City and Guilds Level 2 and was awarded a Credit and a Certificate of Excellence in Kind Handling. I continue to attend workshops and seminars.

I'm a Dog Parkour UK Cartified Instructor.

I am currently competing as a handler in Grade 3 Kennel club agility with my Golden retrievers and Rally level 6.
